John Erath is the Senior Policy Director for the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation, a Washington-based NGO dedicated to a more secure world. He was a 30 year employee of the United States government, holding senior positions in the Departments of State and Defense, as well as the White House. He has written extensively on the subjects of international security, military history and diplomacy. He has appeared on CNN, NBC,  Al Jazeera and Deutsche Welle and been quoted in such publications as the Washington Post, Newsweek, the New York Times and Politico. Mr. Erath has lectured at several universities and taught courses on international diplomacy and security at the Geneva Center for Security Policy. His expertise is in the broad areas of national security strategy, diplomacy and policy integration with specific interests in U.S.-Europe relations, nonproliferation, the future of diplomacy and transitioning from war to peace.
